Talking about work is a common topic in Thai conversations. 'ทำงาน' (tham-ŋaan) means 'to work', and 'งาน' (ŋaan) means 'work' or 'job'. 'เป็น' (pen) means 'to be' and is used to state one's profession. Common professions include 'ครู' (teacher), 'แพทย์' (doctor), 'วิศวกร' (engineer), 'นักธุรกิจ' (businessperson), etc. 'โรงเรียนนานาชาติ' (rooŋ-rian naa-naa-châat) means 'international school'.
